Pomegranate Rosemary Infused Water

Pomegranate Rosemary Infused Water

You’re not drinking enough water? This delicious & refreshing drink will change that! A sugar free pomegranate rosemary infused water made from only 3 ingredients.

An adult should drink between 20 and 30 ml of water per kg body weight per day, depending on the activity, age and environment. This would be an average of 2 to 3 liters of liquid for adults, preferably water or unsweeted tea. As a rule, you should drink smaller quantities distributed over the day and not drink two whole glasses when you are thirsty. Drinking enough has many benefits, not only for your health:

  • your mood improves
  • you prevent headaches
  • you have more energy during the day
  • your skin can improve
  • your muscles need enough liquid
  • more efficient metabolism
  • stronger immune system
  • your productivity increases
  • better feeling of your body

Tips to drink more water

  • put a glass of water and a carafe full of water directly next to your workplace, e. g. next to your computer.
  • always take a bottle of water with you when exercising and drink during breaks (even when doing sports like swimming).
  • drink before you’re thirsty.
  • drink small amounts every now and then, instead of gulping down two glasses quickly.
  • set yourself a goal, e. g. to drink a complete carafe before lunch.
  • create a new habit: at first it seems exhausting to drink all the time but soon it becomes a habit and happens automatically.
  • if you are bored of normal water, add fresh fruits or herbs to your water and try different flavours (like the pomegranate rosemary infused water…)

Ingredients and their benefits

Besides the great advantage of having a refreshing drink instead of boring water, so you’re likely to drink, there are other benefits as well. The sugar-free drink is made of only 3 simple and fresh ingredients that are very good for your body and your mind:

  • Pomegranate – the red fruit contains a lot of antioxidants, which protect your body from free radicals, simply said harmful substances such as cigarette smoke. In addition, the ingredients of the pomegranate seeds provide a stable blood sugar level and can help to reduce inflammation.
  • Rosemary – fresh herbs are very popular in the kitchen. In addition to their use as flavour enhancers, spices and herbs also have many health benefits. Rosemary contains a lot of nutrients and can be used to reduce various health complaints. For example, the herb helps with bloating and digestive problems, promotes circulation and rosemary is also used against muscle spasms and headaches.
  • Lemon – the sour fruit from the Mediterranean countries contains a lot of vitamin C, which supports your immune system. But other ingredients such as potassium, calcium and magnesium are also very good and important for your body.
And the best thing of freshly squeezed lemon juice is it’s taste – so refreshing, slightly summery and the acidity makes you wake up and feel more fit!

Total Time5 minutes
Servings: 6 people or glasses
Author: Lena

Ingredients

  • 100 g pomegranate seeds
  • juice of ½ a lemon
  • 6 small sprigs of rosemary
  • 1,2 l water non-sparkling or sparkling
  • thin lemon slices to garnish

Instructions

  • Separate the pomegranate seeds from their fruit and white skins. Wash the rosemary sprigs in cold water to clean them.
  • Squeeze the juice out of the lemon and divide it into 6 glasses or put it in a large carafe. Insert the pomegranate seeds and crush them with a large spoon or a mortar (a long tool to crush herbs) at the bottom of the glasses, so that the red juice is squeezed out of the seeds.
  • Fill the glasses with the water, add a sprig of rosemary and 1-2 thin slices of lemon and enjoy cool. After about 10 minutes, the water absorbs all the aromas and is the most aromatic.
