Gingerbread Porridge with cherry sauce
Creamy, vegan oatmeal with wintery spices and warming cherry sauce. Simple, quick recipe for a healthy breakfast.

- 50 g (1 cup) rolled oats
- 125 ml (1cup) plantbased milk
- 125 ml (1 cup) water
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- ¼ tsp ground cloves
- ¼ tsp ground ginger or freshly grated ginger
- a pinch of ground nutmeg
- 2 tbsp agave syrup or maple syrup
Cherry sauce
- 100 g frozen cherries or berries
- 50 g agave syrup or maple syrup
- 1 tbsp starch
- orange zest
- 1 star anise
Put all the ingredients for the porridge in a saucepan and let simmer for 5 minutes stirring constantly.
For the cherry sauce, heat the cherries in a pot with the agave syrup, star anise and orange zest to make a liquid sauce. Mix the starch with 2 tbsp cold water in a bowl and then whisk it under the cherry sauce. This makes the sauce creamier. Serve the oatmeal with the hot cherry sauce and hazelnuts or store it in the fridge for several days.
