First mix the flour, oil, salt and water with a spoon in a bowl. Then place the dough on the work surface.
Knead the dough well for 10-15 minutes to make it soft and smooth (the longer you knead the dough, the smoother the tortillas become).
Divide the dough into 8 equal parts (or 10-16 parts if you want to make small tortillas) and form small balls. Take a ball, flatten it slightly by hand and roll it with a rolling pin to a round and flat disc with a thickness of about 1-2 mm. At this step, you should not add flour; work on a clean surface.
Heat a pan on the stove on medium heat without grease. Put a tortilla in the pan and let it bake. After about 2 minutes, the tortilla should form bubbles. Then you can turn it over and bake again for 1 minute on the other side. Make sure, that the pan does not get too hot, otherwise the flatbread will burn.
Serve the tortillas when they´re still warm e. g. filled with vegetables or as a side dish with a curry or stew. When the tortillas cool down, they don't bend anymore, but they will break.
